JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

  • Lead medical cost economics analyses and cost improvement strategies for a health plan
  • Manage a team of 2–4 actuarial analysts and oversee complex projects
  • Forecast financial results, analyze utilization and identify trend drivers
  • Remote role within continental US; infrequent travel to Pittsburgh (2–3x/year)
  • ASA or FSA required with 6.5 years’ progressive health actuarial experience

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

  • health insurance/managed care actuarial experience
  • medical and pharmacy claims analysis
  • medical cost utilization and unit cost analysis
  • forecasting financial results and variance analysis

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • ASA or FSA certification by the Society of Actuaries required
  • Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field required
  • Minimum ~6.5 years of actuarial experience in health insurance/managed care
  • Data retrieval skills and relational database experience
