Looking for a unique actuarial opportunity? We're looking for a visionary actuary to help revolutionize our approach to assessing underwriting-related mortality risk. As a member of our Underwriting Risk Assessment and Research (URAR) team, you'll be responsible for overseeing the mortality slippage monitoring process within our reinsured accelerated underwriting (AUW) business. This non-traditional actuarial role will also be involved in special projects involving mortality impacts of underwriting changes and expected to be a key contributor to underwriting research and thought leadership initiatives to help shape the future of underwriting.
Your Role:
- Lead the charge on AUW US client monitoring analyses, guiding a junior team member and presenting findings to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Underwriting, Pricing, and Integrated Analytics, to support the effective monitoring client and assumption setting in AUW programs.
- Maintain and enhance the AUW mortality monitoring database, aggregating industry-wide insights to fuel data-driven decision-making.
- Support research of key trends in US underwriting programs through survey analysis, validation of new underwriting tools and data sources, and retro studies.
- Craft compelling marketing materials, such as industry presentations, white papers, and survey reports, that showcase Munich Re's thought leadership in innovative underwriting topics.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics, with an ASA designation and a passion for progressing towards FSA.
- 5+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry, with a proven track record of driving innovation and excellence.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with skills in VBA, PowerPoint, Access, SQL, and Power BI.
- A master juggler of multiple projects, with a high degree of independence, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- A gifted analyst and communicator, with excellent written and verbal skills, and a talent for mentoring junior staff and reviewing their work.
- A team player who thrives in cross-functional collaborations, driving results and celebrating successes with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $178,945 - $197,782, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
