Role type

Client-facing actuarial consultant

Consulting/client-facing rather than a modelling-heavy IC: client delivery and business development are explicit, not just technical production.

Senior Health actuarial consulting role in Deloitte's Government and Public Services practice, based in San Diego, California. You'll advise public-sector clients on Medicaid capitation and fee-for-service rate development, policy, forecasting, fiscal analysis, and risk adjustment while supporting business development and innovative payment-model work.

Requirements

Must have

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Strongly preferred

  • 5+ years of health actuary experience and consulting and/or health plan/insurance experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Medicaid managed care capitation rate development and/or fee-for-service rate development
  • Ability to travel up to 20-50%
  • Exam progress towards ASA or FSA
  • Bachelor's Degree

Nice to have

  • ASA with progression to FSA, FSA, or career ASA designation
  • Experience providing Medicaid consulting services to Government agencies
  • Experience with Medicaid waivers (e.g., 1115, 1915 b/c, 1332)
  • Experience with risk adjustment mechanisms
  • Experience with Provider reimbursement streams (e.g., DSH, UPL)
  • Experience with health care reform and working knowledge of individual medical and small group markets
  • Experience with Medicare products, including Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement
  • Experience with reimbursement models including value-based care/ACO modeling
  • Knowledge of group insurance products including disability, long term care
