Oliver Wyman’s Property and Casualty Actuarial Consulting Practice assists insurance companies, self-insured corporations, government entities and other organizations with all aspects of managing property and casualty insurance exposures. We guide P&C clients on their qualitative and quantification of risk and loss exposures, and offer advice on a range of issues, from external business strategy and internal risk management to economic capital modeling and new product development.

Job Overview

Oliver Wyman’s office in New York City is currently considering applicants for Actuarial Consultant to support our growing property & casualty actuarial consulting practice.  The position requires the candidate to work as part of a team of professionals to independently analyze complex problems and develop workable solutions.  The candidate will achieve significant interaction and visibility with Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance companies, large corporations, private equity firms, and state regulators.  Optimally candidates will join the NYC office but there is flexibility on locations throughout the Northeast region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and/or manage loss reserving, pricing, due diligence evaluation modeling, and insurance company regulatory examination assignments involving variety of commercial and personal lines of business
  • Compile, verify and/or reasonability check client data
  • Setup and/or oversee spreadsheet analysis, templates, and exhibits
  • Apply complex actuarial theories and principles to create statistical models
  • Prepare and/or oversee production exhibits and written reports to present findings
  • Assist or lead in the preparation of proposals and presentations for prospects
  • Attend marketing/sales presentations as required

Minimum Experience Required:

  • BS/BA degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, business, or related field
  • 2+ years of actuarial experience in the property & casualty industry, with a preference for prior actuarial consulting experience
  • 2+ CAS exams (including joint SOA exams)
  • Commitment to achieving FCAS designation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

The applicable base salary range for this role is $70,000 to $115,000 plus an annual discretionary incentive bonus plus benefits.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education.  Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.  In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.  We are excited to offer a competitive total rewards package which includes health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401K savings and other retirement programs as well as employee assistance programs.
