Odyssey Reinsurance Company is the reinsurance arm of the Odyssey Group, a global (re)insurance enterprise wholly owned by Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited. Reinsurers are part of the financial services industry, providing capital and risk management solutions for clients to efficiently manage economic risk. Odyssey Re's Actuarial Department plays a critical role in supporting the underwriting efforts of the company.

Essential Duties:
  • Work alongside actuaries and underwriters to analyze the profit potential of reinsurance proposals while using sound actuarial pricing principles and methodologies
  • Clearly communicate pricing results to underwriters, and senior company management and external clients
  • Develop new pricing models and improve upon existing models using the best tools available for the job
  • Work on special projects within the department and across Odyssey Group, as necessary
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with underwriters, customers and business partners to provide high quality service to clients

Skills, Knowledge & Ability:
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills; heavy focus on mathematical coursework a plus
  • A self-starter and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to influence, overcome obstacles and develop positive business relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office, data visualization and analytics products
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask/prioritize
  • Microsoft Excel VBA coding skills a plus

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, risk management or a related field of study, with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Internship/work experience during college years
  • Completion of P, FM a plus.
Office Location:

This hybrid position is based out of Stamford, CT and the employee will be required to work out of the office a minimum of three days per week. ]
