Role Summary

Role type

Modeling-heavy actuarial expert

Closer to a modeling-heavy individual contributor than a pricing-underwriting partner because deep methodology ownership outweighs live deal involvement.

Senior U.S.-remote Life actuarial role focused on mortality analytics, assumption setting, experience studies, and product performance for individual life protection. You’ll develop and refine mortality models, support pricing, forecasting, and reporting, and advise Product, Finance, Underwriting, Data Science, senior leaders, and external partners. Salary is $150,000-$266,000 plus potential bonus and equity.

Requirements

Must have

  • At least 5 years of life insurance actuarial experience

Strongly preferred

  • FSA designation or near-FSA status (ASA considered)
  • Strong experience translating leading indicators into mortality assumptions
  • Demonstrated experience setting actuarial assumptions for life insurance pricing, forecasting, or valuation
  • Strong understanding of mortality modeling, experience analysis, underwriting impacts, and product performance
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Underwriting, and Data Science
  • Strong statistical modeling capabilities using R or Python
  • Familiarity with SQL, dbt, Snowflake, or comparable data tools
  • Proficiency with Excel and actuarial modeling tools
  • Strong analytical judgment and ability to tackle ambiguous problems independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for non-actuarial audiences
  • Comfortable in a technology-driven, fast-paced environment
