About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager professional to provide support to the Rater Delivery Team, which develops best-in-class technological solutions whilst supporting strategic initiatives within the actuarial team.  Support is provided for AIG’s North America Commercial lines of business - Casualty, Property and Financial Lines.

The team is currently comprised of the head of the team, four product line leads, and three supporting actuaries. We work closely with other parts of the Actuarial function, Data Team, IT, and operations.

Role Description

This role will support the work of the project-based Rater Delivery Team to enable it to efficiently deliver valuable work back to the business. The team aims to follow agile principles and this role is key to enable us to do this successfully.

  • Project management - manages the project processes, including project initiation, sprint and daily scrum activities, backlog management, agile coaching, resource management, risks and issues tracking, handling blockers, and project closure [40%]
  • Project reporting / stakeholder communication - provide regular updates and track milestone progress [20%]
  • Alignment across teams - collaborating with the PMO, actuarial, data, operations and IT teams to ensure dependencies and downstream work is understood and monitored [20%]
  • Strategy – support development and communication of strategic initiatives with stakeholders [10%]
  • Administration – support good record keeping and administrative tasks within the team [10%]

Technical Skills and Expertise

  • 5+ years of demonstrated competency in a project coordinator or PM position involving project execution
  • Experience in the Insurance industry is required
  • SAFe certification and experience with Rally required
  • Ability to build formal and informal relationships and networks within and across organizational boundaries
  • Ability to lead and motivate others; demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types
  • Blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role may not directly control resources
  • Cultural adaptability.   Virtual and remote team management ability.
  • Strong capability in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desired Skills (but not required):

  • Experience working with actuaries, data scientists, IT or on code development projects
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Scrum Master certification
  • Experienced user of JIRA or similar software
