Job Description

The Role

In this exciting role as a Technical Leader within the Actuarial Delivery Group (ADG), you will apply your technical and project management skills in the areas of retirement plan valuations, design, compliance, and risk and financial management for all types of retirement plans including defined benefit, defined contribution, and retiree medical. Given the size and complexity of our client portfolio, you will have the opportunity to support diverse projects that help organizations align their retirement programs to their company objectives.

In this role at WTW, you will:

  • Perform technical review of work products and assume significant responsibility for quality assurance
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide value-added insights on retirement plan valuations, welfare plan valuations and special projects
  • May serve as day-to-day project lead, ensuring progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables, and quality standards
  • Contribute to special projects such as plan design, asset/liability modelling, retirement plan risk assessment and mitigation, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, collective bargaining agreements, global consulting, strategic workplace planning, total rewards strategies, and others
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches
  • Identify opportunities to enhance quality and/or improve processes to reduce costs
  • Serve as a mentor or technical resource to more junior colleagues
  • Complete work in accordance with applicable ERISA, FASB, GASB, Department of Labor, Pension Protection Act and other Government regulations


Qualifications

The Requirements
  • 5+ years defined benefit pension experience performing core actuarial work
  • Bachelor's degree required, with heavy quantitative emphasis such as majors in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science
  • In-depth understanding of the funding of and accounting for defined benefit plans. Additional knowledge of other postretirement benefits is preferred
  • Proven ability to understand complex valuation systems and provide a detailed technical review of work projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Expert Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role.

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $70,000-130,000 USD. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
