Role Summary

Role type

Model-validation specialist

Closer to a modelling-heavy individual contributor than a pricing-underwriting partner: the work independently tests proposal models rather than supporting live carrier deals.

Senior Health actuarial consulting role, fully remote in the United States, supporting evaluation of complex managed-care medical and dental proposals for a major federal procurement. You will validate pricing models, healthcare cost assumptions, data, and rate development, then communicate financial findings to acquisition specialists and senior Government decision-makers.

Requirements

Must have

  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and have the ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, or related)
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare actuarial analysis, managed-care analytics, healthcare economics, rate development, or related work
  • 6+ years of experience developing, reviewing, or validating managed healthcare cost and utilization projections
  • 6+ years of experience independently evaluating actuarial assumptions and complex models, with advanced Excel, strong technical-writing skills, and ability to communicate findings to non-actuarial stakeholders under compressed deadlines

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting federal or state healthcare procurements, proposal evaluations, rate reviews, or contract negotiations
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA Community Care, Federal Employees Health Benefits, commercial managed care, or comparable programs
  • Experience evaluating health-plan, third-party administrator, provider-network, medical, dental, or pharmacy proposals
  • Knowledge of applicable Actuarial Standards of Practice, particularly those addressing data quality, modeling, credibility, healthcare cost estimates, and communications
  • Experience using SQL, SAS, R, Python, Power Query, Power BI, or other actuarial and analytical tools
  • Experience preparing formal actuarial reports, proposal-evaluation findings, rate certifications, actuarial opinions, or negotiation-support analyses

Ideal Candidate Profile

Ideal for a senior Health actuary or healthcare analytics specialist with 8+ years of managed-care experience, strong model-validation and technical-writing skills, and confidence explaining financial findings to non-actuarial decision-makers. Federal procurement or negotiation experience would be useful but is listed as desired rather than required.
