We are seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst responsible for supporting the Risk Management Underwriting teams within Major Accounts. You will be the primary point of contact and trusted advisor of the Underwriting teams to support complex risk pricing and business strategy development. This position focuses on providing high-quality analyses and effectively communicating key outcomes to support achieving profit, growth, and operational objectives for Risk Management. As such, the successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative environment. The position sits within Global Risk Solutions, North America Actuarial and Analytics team. The position will report to the Actuarial Manager for Risk Management Underwriting Support.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Underwriting to provide account-level pricing support within the service level agreements (SLA) such as loss forecasts, security calculations, rate change calculations, profitability analyses, pricing model support, etc.
  • Perform analyses to support business decision making, strategy development and results monitoring at the segment level.
  • Provide clear and concise communication of technical concepts and work products to underwriters, managers, and senior leadership within Majors Accounts and Actuarial and Analytics.
  • Identify gap in underwriting knowledge and develop training on technical topics, such as pricing models, profitability metrics, etc.
  • Collaborate with Models and Methods teams, Analytics, and Technology teams on tools and projects to enhance pricing and influence underwriting strategy.
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues and perform peer review on work product to maintain high standard of quality.
  • Continuously develop knowledge in actuarial techniques, industry trends and underwriting processes and systems.

Qualifications

  • Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience required.
  • Passing grades on a minimum of 5 Casualty Actuarial Exams is required. Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society is preferred.
  • Prior experience and solid knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
  • Solid oral and written and presentation communication skills and ability to interact effectively within and outside the organization.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and apply independent judgment and well-developed critical thinking skills in execution of assignments and projects.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with minimal direction.
  • Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.).
