We are seeking an Senior Actuarial Analyst to work directly with other actuaries, data scientists, and insurance, tech professionals. You will own pieces of the actuarial work that enable our innovative model to succeed as we grow.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide an actuarial viewpoint for Surest as we grow in existing and new markets
  • Build and maintain cutting-edge models and methodologies supporting core actuarial functions (e.g., financial projections, plan design optimization, employee contribution setting, IBNP valuations, benchmarking, well-being initiatives, and renewal negotiations)
  • Execute tasks in a timely manner and ensure optimal quality and consistency of information reported
  • Provide an effective level of visibility into financial results to support analysis, reporting, and business outcomes
  • Continuously improve valuation models to incorporate the latest data and actuarial and statistical approaches
  • Perform various analyses and monitor new and current product lines, vendors, and partners
  • Promote and shape Surest actuarial best practices with respect to automation and documentation
  • Maintain good relationships, rapport, and lines of communication with both internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant actuarial experience in healthcare
  • 2+ actuarial exams completed and working towards ASA
  • Proven experience working independently on significant projects using creative problem-solving abilities
  • Familiar with foundational actuarial principles, including but not limited to pricing, valuation, modeling, and product development
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven great written and oral communication skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
