Position Overview
The Senior Actuarial Assistant supports actuarial modeling, projection, analysis as well as automation for the Inforce Management of Financial Solution Products of RGA's US Individual Markets (USIM).
Responsibilities
- Runs actuarial projections for different model assumptions and input variables
- Validates and analyzes projection results
- Assists automation of quarterly asset liability management (ALM) process
- Supports development and quarterly updates of Fair Value Liability Hedging program
- Support the stochastic effective durations and key rate durations for the interest rate sensitive Financial Solutions products
- Help develop and maintain the monitoring and reviewing processes and reports of actual settlement versus assumptions for various life products
- Assists with the development of the annual USIM financial plan
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with other USIM and Inforce Management team members
- Participates in key unit and ad-hoc department projects as needed
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Math, Finance, Statistics, or related field
- Progress towards actuarial designation with at least 5 actuarial exams completed
- At least 2 years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance
- Intermediate PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, SQL, or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (Prophet or equivalent), programming experience in Python and VBA
- Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial ALM and risk management concepts
- Competent knowledge and understanding of key insurance-related concepts, including life and annuity products, reinsurance contracts, and basic GAAP, Statutory, and tax accounting principles
- Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections
- Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability
- Intermediate oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to share and impart knowledge
- Ability to set goals and prioritize workload
- Intermediate investigative, analytical, and problem--solving skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
- Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
- Intermediate interpersonal skills
- Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
- Ability to foster customer service as needed
- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines and work well with all levels of management
- General business knowledge
Preferred
- Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, Statistics, or related field
- Modeling and insurance/reinsurance experience

Compensation Range:
$76,100.00 - $108,050.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
