Assumptions Management Team - Retirement Strategies Assumptions Team

Description
This role is part of the Retirement Strategies team, focusing on assumption development, specifically longevity assumptions for the Pension Risk Transfer, International Reinsurance and Structured Settlement products, as well as investment and policyholder behavior assumptions for Stable Value plans. The longevity assumptions include material and high-visibility assumptions such as mortality improvement and base mortality. Assumption development includes performing experience studies and actuarial analysis to determine final assumptions proposals. There is also opportunity to collaborate on process improvement projects using Python, SQL, PBI, and assist in assumption development for other products such as Annuities and ILI.

Responsibilities include:
• Support the development of Inforce & Pricing assumptions and experience studies used for financial reporting (Stat/GAAP), pricing, Capital and Forecasting for various insurance products.
• Working with Valuation/Pricing/Other Stakeholders to communicate assumption updates and determine impacts
• Maintenance of Base Mortality Review process using SQL, Python, Power BI.
• Collaborate across the Assumption Management Team to enhance/streamline our data analytics tools and capabilities by leveraging emerging technology and best practices.
• Support establishing assumptions required for new product development and business strategic initiatives
• Participate in enterprise-wide assumption groups to share knowledge and be an active participant in Prudential's Actuarial Community.

Qualifications:
• College Degree (BA / BS) required. Degree in Actuarial Science, mathematics, finance, computer science or other quantitative related fields is preferred.
• Near ASA with 2+ years of actuarial experience or equivalent experience in a similar quantitative financial field; annuity and/or retirement product knowledge is desirable
• Understanding of how mortality related assumptions impacts Pension calculations
• Knowledge of or exposure to SQL, VBA macros, Python, Power BI and Git/Bitbucket preferred
• Strong analytical mind and the ability to produce insights that bring business value
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Creative problem-solver, particularly in areas with little clarity or precedence.
• Highly motivated and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with high quality standards.
• Fast learner and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.

Preferred location is Newark, NJ. Secondary locations are Hartford, CT and Dresher, PA, with consideration for virtual locations.

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $93,200.00 to $138,600.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
