Overview:
Talcott Financial Group is seeking a Senior Actuarial Consultant to support preparing and analyzing financial reporting results by building processes and implementing actuarial models in support of an annuity valuation framework including model testing, control development and management reporting.
- Our preferred candidate shall work in a hybrid arrangement in our Hartford, CT.
- Remote work arrangements will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly/quarterly valuation, financial reporting and attribution analysis for variable annuity reserve and capital calculation in accordance with regulatory and accounting standards including prepare Required Balance reporting for Talcott and Reinsurance partners.
- Conduct model testing, assumption sensitivity testing, stress tests, scenario analysis and provide insights into key drivers.
- Collaborate with key business partners, including modeling and assumption setting teams, finance, accounting, risk management and auditors.
- Assist with documenting and preparing VM31 and CFT memorandum for Qualified Actuary and Chief Actuary.
- Support capital efficiency and enterprise growth projects that support Talcott Resolution strategies.
- Conduct ad hoc peer reviews for model and/or assumption changes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance or finance, including actuarial valuation or modelling, is preferred.
- Strong work ethic, including the desire to take pride in and ownership of work products, and the willingness to "do what it takes" to meet critical objectives
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels within the organization and external partners.
- Aptitude for learning technical software and coding skills, such as Excel, VBA, Power BI and R.
- Excellent technical skills with a keen eye for detail to review model results, improve processes, and solve complex problems.
- Desire to continually improve processes while delivering timely and accurate results
- Independence and ability to effectively manage priorities under tight deadlines in a high-performance environment.
- Willingness to consult with various colleagues to gain deep familiarity of the business, understand modeling and assumptions.
