Job Description

Chubb is seeking a Senior Assistant Actuary to join our team!

This role operates on hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) out of our Whitehouse Station, NJ or Philadelphia, PA locations.

There is flexibility to fill this position at a lower job grade for qualified candidates not meeting the exact level of experience outlined.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage 1-2 direct reports. Effectively set and track priorities, delegate and review assignments, create efficient workflows, and ensure on-time and quality deliverables.
  • Help update, analyze, and finalize monthly and quarterly reports on claim trends and performance metrics provided to Claims, Underwriting, and Actuarial senior leadership. This includes the Claims Monthly Operational Metrics, monthly Material Claim Reviews, and the Claims Quarterly Close Report.
  • Work closely with Claims Management to answer questions and support requests stemming from the team's reporting.
  • Develop insightful performance metrics to help drive more-efficient claim operations. This includes inventory management, reserve adequacy, recovery, litigation management, expense budget, etc.
  • Provide financial impact analysis for strategic initiatives and develop tracking methodologies to monitor actual savings progress.
  • Support special and ad hoc analyses that facilitate effective decision making.


Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 6+ years of experience in property/casualty actuarial disciplines; ACAS or FCAS credential
  • Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of VBA
  • Proficiency in SQL server; Working knowledge of R or Python is a plus
  • Working knowledge of QlikSense, Power BI, or Cognos is a plus
  • Able to maintain good documentation and record keeping
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide clear and concise verbal and written communications to non-actuarial business leaders
  • Strong project and time management skills, will take ownership of projects, works comfortably in team environment, results-oriented
