You will lead enterprise medical expense forecasting, trend analytics, and executive reporting across Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid and Exchange lives. This senior leadership role is remote (U.S.) or based in Eden Prairie, MN, and requires deep healthcare actuarial judgment and experience managing teams and forecasting frameworks.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
- Lead enterprise medical expense forecasting for Optum Care (Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid, Exchange)
- Own actuarial methodologies, assumptions, model governance, and automation
- Produce executive‑level reporting and communicate drivers to senior leaders
- Manage and mentor a high‑performing actuarial team in a matrixed environment
- Remote U.S. option; Eden Prairie, MN preferred with local office requirement for some hires
DOMAIN EXPERTISE
- Medical expense forecasting and trend development
- Healthcare actuarial experience in payer, provider, or value‑based care
- Experience with capitation and shared‑risk models
- Developing actuarial models using large healthcare datasets
- Executive‑level forecasting and risk communication
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Credentialed actuary required (ASA or FSA)
- 10+ years of healthcare actuarial experience with leadership responsibility
- Significant experience in medical expense forecasting and trend development
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and analytics tools (SQL, SAS, R, Python, VBA, Power BI)
- Experience with risk‑based/value‑based care arrangements (capitation/shared risk)
