Pricing partner to underwriting
Closer to a pricing-underwriting partnership than a modelling-heavy IC role because commercial strategy and cross-functional decisions matter as much as model development.
Senior P&C pricing role in Hiscox USA’s Manhattan actuarial team, covering specialty commercial lines including Professional Liability, General Liability, Cyber and BOP. You’ll develop rating plans, manage filings, apply GLMs, build SQL-based tools, and partner with underwriting, product and distribution leaders. The hybrid role requires two office days weekly and offers a $110,000-$160,000 salary range.
Requirements
Must have
- 3+ years of P&C actuarial pricing experience
- 5+ CAS exams passed
- SQL proficiency
Strongly preferred
- Clear intent to pursue ACAS/FCAS
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Hands-on experience preparing and managing rate filings and handling DOI objections
- Working knowledge of at least one of Python, R, or VBA
- Project management and workstream ownership across multi-team initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills
Nice to have
- Direct experience contributing to a US P&C new product launch or material rating plan overhaul
- Experience with GLM-based rating plans or other multivariate pricing models
- Familiarity with SERFF
- Familiarity with specialty commercial lines (Professional Liability, Management Liability, Cyber, GL, BOP)
- Small business commercial and/or personal lines pricing experience
