How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The Specialty Pricing Analytics Actuary supports the Global Head of Specialty Pricing in pricing analytics across Specialty helping to ensure that adequate and consistent progress is made on

portfolio and functional initiatives without diluting front-end Underwriting support.

What will you do in this role?

The Pricing function supports underwriters and management in building robust and profitable portfolios by providing objective insights through deep product expertise.

The Specialty Pricing team is responsible for all pricing analytics for Marine Liability, Cargo, Specie, Energy, Renewable Energy, Terrorism, Aviation, and Agriculture across the insurance and reinsurance divisions. Their focus is on applying common analytical standards across the products for case pricing, performance measurement, and portfolio steering.

This role will:

  •  Take the lead on implementing functional initiatives within Specialty any Pricing-wide and

ensuring a consistent approach is taken across all business units underwriting Specialty.

  • Be the primary link between the Pricing, Underwriting, and Exposure Management functions for Specialty.
  • Work with Exposure Management to enhance Underwriting information and metrics on the

level of accumulation and clash within the overall Specialty portfolio.

  • Provide analytics to support Specialty Underwriting Lead and Global Head of Specialty Pricing in

holistic reviews of the overall Specialty portfolio.

  • Conduct analytics to support Specialty Underwriting Lead, Global Head of Specialty Pricing and

Exposure Management in providing detailed guidance on risk appetite, capacity allocation,

and overall Specialty strategy and goals.

  • Maintain and enhance gross portfolio model for use in outwards reinsurance pricing analyses,

ensuring alignment with pricing model output.

  • Evaluate and recommend optimal outwards reinsurance structures and pricing.
  • Produce underwriting risk parameters for the capital model.
  • Provide additional support for front-end Underwriting as needed during busy renewal periods.
  • Recommend and assist with the implementation of more comprehensive data capture to

support monitoring of the portfolio.

About You:

 What you need to have:

  • Associate or Fellow of an accredited Actuarial Society, or commensurate experience
  • Keen collaborator able to build relationships and establish credibility with stakeholders at all levels
  • Able to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience at all levels, including Executive Leadership.
  • Growth mind-set with a desire to seek diverse thought, learn from others and share knowledge
  • Proactive in challenging the status quo and developing innovative ideas

What we prefer you to have:

  • Knowledge of Specialty exposures, coverages and accumulation models
  • The ability to manipulate complex datasets using tools VBA, SQL, R, Python, or similar
