Job Summary:
The Standard seeks a talented actuary to join the Individual Annuities division. Our products include fixed rate multi-year guaranteed deferred annuities, fixed indexed annuities, and immediate annuities.
We seek a talented individual who is dedicated, motivated and curious who wants to learn and grow within the organization. You will have the ability to understand the big picture and present results to senior leaders as you build models, evaluate trends, and question results.
The Individual Annuity Actuarial financial reporting team is responsible for valuation, financial reporting, experience analysis, and assumption setting.
This role will report to the Senior Director and this role and will function as a partner to senior actuaries, financial professionals, and executives leading planning, projections, experience studies, and assumption setting.
As there is flexibility in the structure of this role and how it fits within our current organizational structure, there could be near-term leadership opportunities associated with this role.
Depending on the scope of the role, financial reporting focused responsibilities could include:
- Provide thought leadership and subject matter expert for financial close, financial planning, and accounting framework changes.
- Formal and informal managerial and leadership for junior staff, supporting development, and reviewing work.
- Analyze financial results of Individual Annuities division and identify drivers and trends in the profitability of our products.
- Communicate financial information to management to assist and influence corporate and divisional financial strategies.
- Recommend opportunities to streamline financial close processes and analysis.
- Take ownership of the team's preparation, review, and analysis of our valuation reserves and financial statements following GAAP, statutory or tax reporting principles.
- Analyze data/trends from your modeling work and share findings with team members and other key stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of regulatory issues in order to determine applicability to our reporting.
Skills and Background You'll Need:
Education: Bachelors degree required
Certification: Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), or career Associate of The Society of Actuaries (ASA).
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressively responsible actuarial experience
- Understanding of materiality of analytical results and when to surface findings to others.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and critical thinking skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Experience with Individual Annuity or other annuity products is highly preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiarity with actuarial tools and systems. PowerBI, Python, and SQL experience preferred but not required.
- Prior modeling experience. Moody's Axis experience is strongly preferred.
- US Statutory and US GAAP experience preferred but not required.

- Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.
Salary Range:
$133,750.00 - $195,750.00
