The primary function of this position is to lead efforts in providing valuable insights, solutions, services, and operational improvements across the global Actuarial function through the use of data & analytics. Activities include, but are not limited to data analysis, statistical modeling, and creating tooling and visualization solutions

Job Responsibilities

  • Create more efficient management reporting and/or dashboards using appropriate reporting tools.
  • Performs data analytics and statistical modeling on existing data sets to provide insights/recommendations into business/product performance and improve decision making.
  • Identify areas to increase efficiency and automation of data analysis processes.
  • Design and implement automated reporting solutions.
  • Be an advocate for the use of data to support data driven decision making.
  • Research and apply knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.
  • Develop business analytics solutions across Actuarial.
  • Develop strategic tools and actionable insights to enable smarter underwriting and claims decisions that will augment existing processes

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Business or similar specialized

Certification

  • ACAS or FCAS designation required

Work Experience/Skill Set

  • Minimum of 10 years of Actuary experience
  • Commercial insurance experience strongly preferred
  • SQL and R programming experience a plus
  • Self-motivated and able to be given a task and run with it
  • Flexible with the ability to shift focus quickly from one project to another while maintaining accuracy
  • Ability to manage ad hoc requests that have tight timelines while continuing to make progress on long-term projects
  • Outstanding oral, written communication and interpersonal skills and excellent presentation skills
  • Team player with analytical, quantitative and leadership abilities
