  • Work in Nationwide’s Risk/Actuarial function; role located in Columbus, OH
  • Senior role (typically 7+ years) requiring PhD or Master’s with extensive experience

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

  • meteorology specialization in hurricanes and severe convective storms
  • catastrophe model development and vendor evaluation
  • geospatial/GIS data integration for hazard and loss modeling
  • analysis of NOAA and historical weather data for event simulation
  • experience with RMS or Verisk catastrophe platforms

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science or Master’s with 5–10 years’ experience
  • Typically 7+ years of related work experience in financial risk or actuarial functions
  • Deep meteorological expertise in hurricanes and severe convective storms
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python and strong SQL skills
  • Experience with GIS/geospatial data and familiarity with RMS/Verisk platforms
