As Senior Director of Actuarial Services at UnitedHealth Group, you will oversee a team of actuaries on complex actuarial projects that have strategic importance to our mission of helping people lead healthier lives and to help the health system work better for everyone. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead actuarial efforts that assess and influence our network competitive position in the marketplace, including related data submissions
  • Provide direction for the development of competitive analysis and determine the impact on cost/premiums and various product proposals
  • Oversee the development of actuarial pricing models, pricing methodologies and assumptions
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with internal business partners such as underwriting, client management and client development, network management and pricing teams, among others
  • Provide strategic guidance to internal cross-functional work groups related to our network competitive position
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external business partners such as actuaries and leaders in consulting firms

Your leadership skills will grow as you lead an intensely driven and focused team and oversee large projects with complex work streams. As the trusted subject matter expert, senior management will be turning to you to drive business results and provide actuarial direction to support network and pricing strategies for our products and more.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation or near-ASA with equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of Actuarial experience
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of concepts and methodologies in health care

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • Experience working in the health care industry, specifically with network evaluation tools and datasets such as UDS
  • Previous experience with national and/or large group accounts
  • Proficiency with Excel, Access, VBA, and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits re subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
