HIGHLIGHTS

Supervising actuary role in the New York State Department of Financial Services Property Bureau. You will lead reserving and ratemaking reviews, assess insurer solvency and capital adequacy, supervise lower-level actuaries, and represent the agency in regulatory and NAIC matters. Position based in Albany, NY.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

  • Lead review of P&C loss and loss adjustment expense reserves
  • Lead actuarial ratemaking and internal rate reviews for casualty insurers
  • Supervise a team of actuaries and external consultants
  • Prepare capital adequacy measures and financial accrual estimates
  • Represent DFS in NAIC coordination and testify before governmental bodies

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

  • actuarial or statistical work for operating units or management
  • governmental regulatory actuarial functions
  • performing actuarial computations for reserves, premium rates, and/or policy forms

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Successful completion of five Casualty Actuarial Society exams
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in reserves, rates, or regulatory functions
  • Experience supervising actuarial staff or consultants
  • Must be eligible to work in the US; DFS does not sponsor visas
