Supervising actuary role in the New York State Department of Financial Services Property Bureau. You will lead reserving and ratemaking reviews, assess insurer solvency and capital adequacy, supervise lower-level actuaries, and represent the agency in regulatory and NAIC matters. Position based in Albany, NY.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
- Lead review of P&C loss and loss adjustment expense reserves
- Lead actuarial ratemaking and internal rate reviews for casualty insurers
- Supervise a team of actuaries and external consultants
- Prepare capital adequacy measures and financial accrual estimates
- Represent DFS in NAIC coordination and testify before governmental bodies
DOMAIN EXPERTISE
- actuarial or statistical work for operating units or management
- governmental regulatory actuarial functions
- performing actuarial computations for reserves, premium rates, and/or policy forms
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Successful completion of five Casualty Actuarial Society exams
- 5+ years of actuarial experience in reserves, rates, or regulatory functions
- Experience supervising actuarial staff or consultants
- Must be eligible to work in the US; DFS does not sponsor visas
