Supervising P&C casualty actuary role at the California Department of Insurance. You will supervise actuarial staff, review and develop rates and predictive models for P&C lines, and participate in department and industry committees. This managerial, hybrid role can be based in Sacramento, Los Angeles, or Oakland, CA, and reports to the Chief Actuary.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
- Supervise actuarial staff reviewing rate applications and models
- Review and develop P&C rates and rating plans under Proposition 103
- Work with predictive models (GLMs, GAMs, trees, ensembles, neural nets)
- Hybrid role with telework per CDI policy; headquartered in CA (Sacramento/LA/Oakland)
- Ideal for an experienced casualty actuary with supervisory experience
DOMAIN EXPERTISE
- developing or reviewing rates for P&C lines
- predictive modeling for ratemaking (GLMs, GAMs, trees, ensembles)
- experience with stochastic and scoring catastrophe models (wildfire, earthquake, flood)
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Actuary Supervisor exam/list eligibility (refer to exam bulletin)
- 3+ years developing or reviewing rates for P&C lines of insurance
- Experience assigning, supervising, training, and mentoring actuarial staff
