How does this role contribute to our collective success?
 
As part of the expansion of AXIS Managing Agency, with the launch of Syndicate 2050, a new vacancy has arisen to support the Actuarial department in performing and enhancing quarterly reserving analyses and reporting for AXIS Managing Agency. The role will be focused on Reserving but will also touch on Capital and Business Planning.
 
What will you do in this role?
 
Quarterly Reserving & Business Partnering
• Provide analyses for quarterly reserving for the syndicates and present results to management.
• Build strong relationships with the product line reserving teams assisting them to provide high quality of the reserving analysis.

Finance/Corporate Support
• Maintain relationship with outside auditors and third-party reserving partners including SAO provider.
• Respond to data requests and provide support for Finance as required.
• Produce input and commentary by class and underwriting year for reporting to Lloyd’s.

Business Planning
• Work with the product line actuaries and the pricing actuaries to determine loss ratios for the Syndicate Business Plans as well as providing opinions on the ceded and other assumptions produced elsewhere in the business.

Capital
• Support for the capital submissions for both syndicates, both Standard Formula and based on the internal model. Including using the internal model output for analysis and reporting to Lloyd’s.
 
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
About You:
 
We encourage you to bring your own experience and expertise to the table, so while there are some qualifications and experiences, we need you to have, we are open to discussing how your individual knowledge might lend itself to fulfilling this role and help us achieve our goals.
 
What you need to have:
• Qualified Fellow of Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent or a clear commitment to qualifying with minimal exams remaining
• Experience of reserving in the Lloyd’s and / or London Market
• Demonstrate a proactive approach and an ability to think strategically and creatively when solving problems, thinking of new ways of increasing efficiency and resolve issues creatively as they arise.
• The ability and desire to work collaboratively with different functional areas.
 
What we prefer you to have:

• Experience of carrying out reserving in ResQ.
• Prior experience using SQL, for example writing queries to manipulate data, or a logical approach and willingness to learn.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate to a range of audiences including non-technical senior stakeholders.
 
Role Factors:
 
In this role, you will typically be required to attend the London office on average 2 -3 days a week – with some flexibility.
