Senior Life actuary role with the Texas Department of Insurance in Austin, supporting regulatory examinations of life insurers and annuity companies. You’ll review reserves, actuarial opinions, transactions, and financial reporting, while contributing to rules and actuarial guidelines. The role requires an ASA or FSA, MAAA membership, and at least four years of relevant experience.
Requirements
Must have
4+ years of relevant actuarial work
Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) and member of the American Academy of Actuaries in good standing
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or related field
Eligible for bond-related provisions of Insurance Code Section 401.106 and take oath required by Insurance Code Section 401.105

Travel up to 25% of the time; if 10% or more, must maintain Texas driver's license
Strongly preferred
Experience in life insurance reserving, solvency regulation, or auditing
Knowledge of state laws, rules, procedures, and regulations relevant to job
Knowledge of actuarial formulas, methods, professional guidance (ASOPs, Practice Notes, etc.)
Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
Skill in problem solving and critical thinking
Ability to communicate complex subjects clearly and concisely
