The Rater Delivery Team develops best-in-class technological solutions whilst supporting strategic initiatives within the actuarial team. Support is provided for AIG’s North America Commercial lines of business - Casualty, Property and Financial Lines.

The team is currently comprised of the head of team, four product line leads, and three supporting actuaries. We work closely with other parts of the Actuarial function, Data Team, IT, and operations.

About the role:

We are seeking an actuarial professional to provide support to Rater Delivery Team. As a Technical Analyst, you will develop, maintain, and enhance pricing tools used across the commercial platform. You will use Excel, VBA macros in Excel and programming in Python to modify the pricing tools per business requests.  You will work  closely with the Business Actuaries and Modelers to assist with developing and deploying predictive models in pricing. You will work with Underwriters, Business Leads, and Chief Underwriting Officers to implement efficiencies and enhancements to pricing tools and raters, and you will provide pricing tool training and support to the users as needed. You will also work with the platform team and developers to deploy pricing tools on the rating platform. We are looking for an individual who is internally motivated, intellectually curious, can assist multiple priorities, and is driven to enhance existing processes.

This is a programming role in the Actuarial Organization

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance pricing tools used across the commercial platform.
  • Implement updates, enhancements and efficiencies to pricing tools and raters that are provided by the Business Actuaries, Modelers, Underwriters, Business Leads, and Chief Underwriting Officers.
  • Document pricing tool updates and algorithms and provide pricing tool release notes to be used by underwriters.
  • Work with modelers to assist with developing and deploying predictive models in pricing tools.
  • Work with the platform team and developers to deploy pricing tools on the rating platform.
  • Operationalizing profitable growth strategies in the front-end pricing tools by refining existing pricing tools to align with portfolio insights and improve pricing adequacy and risk selection.
  • Assist in on boarding pricing tools and raters to HX pricing platform.
  • Update the Rater Catalog to keep it consistent with the enhancements and updates to the raters.
  • Assist in researching and developing advanced pricing techniques.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related area
  • 2 or more actuarial exams preferred
  • 1+ years or more in commercial or personal lines pricing preferred
  • Python programming work experience required (or other programming language)
  • Excel, VBA, highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong business and collaboration skills, and responsive to service needs and operational demands
  • Effective time management skill
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
