Job Description

We are looking to hire a structurer in the Third Party Capital team within SCOR P&C Solutions, who will structure and market sidecars, cat bonds, or other third-party capital ventures sponsored by SCOR and manage the reporting to and relationship with investors in collaboration with the other members of the Third-Party Capital and Retrocession teams, and external vendors. All these tasks will contribute to fullfill SCOR ambitions and strategy in developing relations with our risk partners.

In addition to the structuring and marketing role, the position would contain an internal underwriting role as Chief Underwriting Officer for the SCOR Ireland's entity. This position is US based for regulatory reason and consists in underwriting internal retrocession contracts on behalf of the irish entity.

The position reports to the P&C Chief Third-Party Capital Officer.

Responsibilities

Third Party Capital & Risk Partnerships
  • Structure Third Party Capital transactions, define key terms, and analyze their impact on investors returns and SCOR's economic position.
  • Take a leading position in the marketing to investors including the preparation of marketing material, the presentation and due diligence cessions with investors, in collaboration with any external placement agent, SCOR Investment Partners Sales team, and the Retrocession team.
  • Work with the Retrocession CTO team and the Retro accounting team on the reporting to investors, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Review business terms in legal documents.
  • Contribute to the establishment and control of strong processes, and to the planning for the Third Party Capital team activities.
  • Nurture good relationship with investors through regular contacts and visits.
  • Manage the overall relationship with US-based Risk Partners across SCOR Group in respect of overall strategy, flow of information, and coordination of interaction between Risk Partners and SCOR COMEX, SCOR Life and SCOR Investment Partners.

CUO of SI

Leadership

The role is to:
  • Act as the P&C CUO of SI and will support the SI Management in implementing the Group's strategy while exhibiting the corporate values of SCOR

Contribute to:
  • development of SI Risk Appetite, consistent with SCOR Group's Risk Appetite.
  • development of SI's strategic relevance to SCOR.
  • creation of annual underwriting plans consistent with SI Risk Appetite and Strategy, and in consultation with heads of P&C & Life underwriting.
  • business planning, implementing, and integrating the strategic direction of the Company in coordination with SI functions and in consultation with heads of P&C & Life underwriting.
  • collaborates with SI functions (risk, finance, actuarial , operations) in managing, reporting and analysis of its P&C business.

Underwriting
  • Lead the SI underwriting function in accordance with SGL P&C underwriting standards and practices
  • Evaluate renewal and new treaty reinsurance programs.
  • Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract wording
  • Evaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuaries
  • Co-operate with actuarial function in producing its opinion on underwriting policy
  • Retrocession protection of SI
  • Work with the SCOR Retro and modelling teams to evaluate the P&C exposures of SI
  • Agree with SI and P&C business unit management the P&C risk tolerance for SI.
  • Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract wording
  • Evaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuaries
  • Co-operate with actuarial function in producing its opinion on retrocession arrangements
  • Monitor the portfolio performance of the P&C business with SI, identifying remedial actions as and when needed

Account Management
  • Coordinate all internal activity for all assigned accounts
  • Ensure maintenance of all documentation for assigned accounts as per SCOR guidelines.
  • Refer all issues as required by SCOR guidelines

Regulatory Matters
  • Be knowledgeable and ensure policies consistent with SCOR P&C's are in place and observed so as to be in a position to evidence compliance with all regulations, rules and guidance applicable to the underwriting function of the SI.
  • Support SI in dealings with Central Bank of Ireland, e.g. Targeted Risk Assessment, Thematic Review, Information/Survey Submissions, securing SCOR P&C Underwriting Policies, Guidelines and Practices.
  • Continuously satisfy the fitness and probity requirements of the CBI.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory & supervisory developments and upcoming issues, if any, and act and react appropriately in conjunction with the relevant departments within SCOR.
  • Participate in P&C industry/trade associations to address P&C issues and advance SCOR's positions.


Qualifications

  • At least 5 years' experience in P&C reinsurance, broking, or ILS industry.
  • Strong P&C Underwriting knowledge and experience, in both Property and Casualty
  • Experience in structuring, analyzing, and placing ILS transactions or retrocession programs
  • Good network within the ILS industry and/or with the investment community
  • Good understanding of investment securities and industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate with internal and external resources on complex projects
  • Capability to interact with clients professionally and make a good impression
  • Strong team player
  • General understanding in cat modelling and P&C pricing tools
  • Ability to report to regulators
  • Ability to secure C-suite buy-in and support for new projects / initiatives
  • MS in Business, Finance, Actuarial or Science or equivalent work experience

Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $225 - $330,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off."
