Role Description

Perform actuarial valuations and analyzes for individual lifeinsurance products for the US. This role will contribute to the accurateassessment of reserves, financial projections, and other actuarial functionsspecific to individual life insurance products. This role reports to the leadactuary for Canada and US Individual Life Valuation Team. Works closely withteams across different regions to ensure alignment on project goals anddeliverables as part of the CASLH valuation team.

Position Description:

  • Assist with financial reporting on a US GAAP and IFRS 17 basis
  • Assist with regulatory reporting for US STAT and Solvency II
  • Assist with the preparation and issuance of the Statement of Actuarial Opinion and supporting memorandum as required by US regulators
  • Development and maintenance of actuarial tools and models to analyze actuarial data to enhance management reporting, financial reporting and regulatory reporting
  • Analyze and interpret data to assess the profitability, risks, and performance of the US individual life insurance business.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging practices, and regulatory changes impacting US insurance industry, and provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Participate in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and presentations related to the valuation of individual life products.
  • Engage in actuarial research and analysis to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of individual life insurance valuations.
  • Automation of models and business processes

Role Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience
  • Successful completion of the ASA or FSA designation
  • Knowledge of US statutory and US GAAP requirements and industry best practices, and other relevant insurance reserve methodology and requirements.
  • Advanced Moody's GGY Axis modelling capabilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL
  • Excellent analytical and coding skills, preferably in Python or R, proficiency in analytical and reporting tools such as Power BI, a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manipulate and interpret complex data sets.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey actuarial concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in actuarial valuations and analyses.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Consistent pursuit of excellence in execution and delivery.
  • Self-motivated with a flexible attitude and enthusiasm for the role
  • Able to work under pressure to meet internal and external deadlines

Salary Range
91,000.00 - 152,000.00 USD
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the US and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
