This position assists with the actuarial responsibilities of the Product Development team. Primary responsibilities include actuarial modeling of complex products and analysis of pricing assumptions and results. This role's primary focus is on life insurance, particularly universal life, equity-indexed universal life, and variable universal life.

Responsibilities:

  • Product modeling & analysis
    • Work with the M Product Development team and the M Reinsurance team to develop and maintain pricing models for all proprietary products
    • Construct, analyze, maintain, and enhance actuarial pricing models for complex products
    • Analyze profitability metrics and stress test assumptions
    • Evaluate, test, interpret, and summarize model output, applying analytical skills to explain results
    • Contribute to pricing packages for sign-off by the M Financial Reinsurance Team and M's Partner Carriers
    • Support testing and analysis for product values in administration and illustration systems
    • Automate repeatable procedures associated with product and rate delivery
  • Pricing assumptions
    • Work with the M Product Development team and the M Reinsurance team to develop and maintain pricing assumptions
    • Analyze and document pricing assumptions and objectives
    • Develop new tools and enhance existing tools to analyze pricing assumptions including mortality, persistency, and expense assumptions
  • Provide Actuarial Expertise to M Community

    • Develop education pieces to communicate important topics to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Support Member Firms with technical actuarial questions
    • Test illustration and administration systems as needed, reconciling differences in tested values


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, or related field
  • Successfully passed a minimum of two (2) exams from the Society and Actuaries, demonstrating progress towards ASA designation
  • At least one actuarial internship or related experience; two to three years of actuarial experience is preferable
  • Product knowledge of life and annuity products; Universal Life (Fixed, Indexed, and Variable) preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse teams across an organization and with stakeholders outside the company
  • Proficient in MS Suite with strong proficiency in Excel, VBA experience a plus
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation, training, and education skills
  • Ability to handle multiple, complex projects, and deadlines simultaneously


Job Conditions & Environment:

  • This position is based on-site at our offices in Uptown at the Quad in Dallas, TX with the flexibility to work one day per week remotely
  • Normal office environment/desk assignment
  • Extensive use of PC's, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
  • Extensive hands-on work with documents, spreadsheets, and other written documents
