Closer to a modeling specialist than a pricing-underwriting partner because the work is driven by VM-22 model development and governance rather than live deal decisions.

Remote Life actuarial modeling role supporting The Standard’s Individual Annuities division from Portland, OR. As an Actuarial Associate, you’ll enhance AXIS models and data processes for VM-22, analyze valuation results, and partner with valuation, pricing, FP&A, and investment management. The role may be filled at Associate II or III level, requiring at least three exams or ASA, respectively.

Requirements

Must have

  • 2+ years of hands-on actuarial experience (3+ for Associate III level)
  • Successful completion of at least 3 actuarial exams (ASA for Associate III level)

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, business, or related field preferred
  • Prior modeling experience with GGY AXIS
  • Hands-on experience with Individual annuities
  • Asset modeling and Asset Liability Management (ALM) experience
  • Projection and Valuation modeling experience (CFT, LDTI MRB, VM-20, or VM-21)
  • Python experience
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to own/explain reserve movements
