Senior P&C actuarial data science role in Birmingham, Alabama, with a hybrid work environment. As an FCAS and Principal Data Scientist, you will lead personal lines pricing strategy, build and monitor predictive models, support rate filings, and influence business decisions across specialty residential property and recreational insurance.

Requirements

Must have

FCAS designation
Must be authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship

Strongly preferred

Proficiency in R and Python
Deep understanding of GLMs and GBMs
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning, NLP)
Experience with Databricks or similar big data platforms
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
Experience with agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies
Strong commitment to model testing, validation, and continuous improvement
Proven project management and prioritization experience
Six years insurance data science or eight years elsewhere
Master's degree in quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science)
Ability to communicate results to business partners
Ability to manage projects and direct junior team members
Independently build models and statistical analyses
