Job Description

The successful candidate will take on a multitude of product research and development projects, centered around the feasibility, design, and pricing of complex insurance and annuity products and riders, balancing business unit marketing and financial goals. Adaptability to rapidly changing circumstances in the internal and external environments will be a key challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member of the US Pricing leadership team responsible for coaching, directing, enabling, and developing a large, high performing and highly engaged team of diverse actuaries and actuarial students.

  • Directing pricing teams to design, develop, launch and monitor innovative life and annuity products that meet marketing, profitability, and risk management goals while complying with corporate guidelines and regulatory environment.

  • Joining cross functional product development teams that also include representatives from marketing, systems, illustrations, legal, and contracts, to represent Pricing's interests and concerns.

  • Working closely with Product Managers and Distribution on product design objectives that meet the needs of our customers in multiple distribution channels.

  • Working with the AVP & Pricing Officer to present product financial results and explain key challenges and constraints at each step of the process.

  • Collaborating with a second-line risk oversight team to ensure strategic direction is aligned with corporate risk appetite

  • Responsible for additional projects related to the department's strategic objectives.

What we are looking for

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of actuarial experience.

  • Creativity and passion for innovation.

  • 3+ years of experience with Fixed Indexed Annuity Pricing required.

  • In depth knowledge of US Stat valuation and the regulatory environment for Fixed Annuity products.

  • Knowledge of US Stat valuation and the US regulatory environment for Life Insurance products preferred.

  • Life Insurance pricing experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of investment and hedging concepts of indexed products.

  • Knowledge of Annuity or Life modeling software. Direct experience with Moody’s Axis preferred.

  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving ability combined with very strong technical actuarial skills.

  • Risk management focus, with ability to see beyond traditional measures and identify emerging issues.

  • Ability to respond to changing demands from multiple stakeholders and prioritize needs and results while working under deadline pressure.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between

$111,900.00 USD - $201,420.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
