Pricing partner to underwriting

Closer to a pricing-underwriting partnership role than a modelling-heavy individual contributor position because the ad stresses business-partner influence and product strategy.

Associate-level P&C pricing and product development role on The Hartford’s Spectrum actuarial team, supporting $3.0B of Small Business Commercial Multi-Peril business in Hartford, CT, Chicago, or Charlotte. You’ll develop modeled rate indications, improve pricing segmentation and assumptions, monitor E&S performance, and partner with Underwriting and Product. The role also includes mentoring junior team members and presenting results to leadership.

Requirements

Must have

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong Excel skills

Strongly preferred

  • 6-7 actuarial exams passed
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with strong time and project management skills

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of SQL, VBA, R, Python, SAS or similar code languages
