Valuation and reporting leadership

Closer to a reserving and reporting cycle role than a pure people-leadership post because recurring valuation governance and reporting accountability define the mandate.

Director-level Health actuarial role in Bloomington, Minnesota, leading valuation, reserve analysis, financial reporting, and regulatory support across health plan products. You will govern actuarial models and controls, direct staff, and translate results for finance, executives, and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
  • 10 years of experience (if FSA) or 15 years (if ASA) in health plan valuation, financial reporting, pricing, reserving, or actuarial leadership
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
  • Experience leading complex actuarial valuation, financial reporting, reserve development, trend, pricing, forecasting, or regulatory filing processes
  • Experience translating actuarial results into actionable insights for senior leaders and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing, coaching, or directing actuarial analysts or cross-functional teams
  • Advanced actuarial judgment and ability to apply Actuarial Standards of Practice
  • Excellent analytical, modeling, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Strong written, oral, and executive presentation skills
  • Strong computer and analytical tool skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently, use sound professional judgment, and provide cross-departmental leadership

Nice to have

  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Individual, Small Group, Large Group, self-insured, or other health insurance products
  • Experience with statutory reporting, financial statement support, premium deficiency reserve analysis, IBNR/reserve development, risk adjustment, reinsurance, or provider reimbursement valuation
  • Programming or data experience using SAS, SQL, Python, R, Access, Azure, cloud data sources, or enterprise data platforms
