Role type

Model development and validation specialist

Closer to a modelling-heavy individual-contributor role than a reserving cycle role because assurance and model changes are more prominent than recurring valuation close work.

Associate Life actuary role in Transamerica’s Model Development and First Line Validation team, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You’ll work with AXIS models across life, health, and annuity businesses, supporting US GAAP and other liability calculations, model testing, validation, and workflow-improvement projects.

Requirements

Must have

  • Must work in office 3 days per week (Tue-Thu) in Cedar Rapids, Baltimore, Philadelphia, or Denver

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, stats, economics or related field and 5 years relevant experience
  • FSA or equivalent professional designation
  • ASA or equivalent designation with 8 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree in listed discipline with 4 years experience
  • Demonstrated high-quality leadership, judgment, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to communicate advanced mathematical and analytical concepts verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
  • Excellent computer skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, VBA, Alteryx, Python or R
