[ The AVP & Actuary, Individual Life Pricing is responsible for developing our view of the individual life mortality risk in reinsurance opportunities.

Reporting into the 2nd VP & Actuary, Individual Life Pricing, you will have re/insurance knowledge, knowledge of life insurance products, the ability to build and review financial models, and mentor junior staff.

You are a self-starter with the ability to solve complex problems within tight timeframes and can collaborate with various stakeholders to develop a win-win solution for Munich Re and its clients.

Your Job

Drive the evaluation of IL reinsurance opportunities, including new business and inforce reinsurance opportunities, support monitoring of existing business and improvement of pricing processes, participate in activities that further Munich Re's position as a lead reinsurer and expert in mortality risk selection. The main responsibilities include:
  • Develop assumptions, build models, review financial projections, and document work outputs
  • Understand and implement pricing standards, work with stakeholders across other teams,
  • Develop new tools or ways to solve new or familiar problems
  • Monitor performance of deals
  • Develop, guide and mentor junior staff
  • Participate in industry task force and/or internal cross-functional studies
  • Stay ahead of industry developments
  • Contribute to Munich Re's culture of collaboration and continuous improvement


Your Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Mathematics, Accounting
  • 8-10+ years of experience in the life insurance/reinsurance industry
  • FSA Designation
  • Life insurance pricing and product development experience
  • Proven independent problem solving ability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Track record of execution and ability to meet timeframes
  • Self-driven and works well in cross-functional team settings
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects/requests simultaneously
  • Adept at conceptualizing and implementing actuarial solutions for business needs
  • Interested in continuous improvement, learning new skills and can successfully transfer existing skills to others in the group
  • Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting the business and organization
