This role is responsible for management of the Pension Risk Transfer Team (PRT) and the Single Premium Immediate Annuity product (SPIA). The PRT valuation team calculates TAX, STAT, and GAAP reserves for all PRT transactions. The PRT valuation team will also provide reporting on PRT related reinsurance, earnings analysis, and other reporting (management, regulatory, rating agency, etc.)

This position is available in Houston, TX, League City, TX or Galveston, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee PRT valuation for TAX, STAT, and GAAP reporting to include reviewing and approval of modeling new deals and ensuring complete and accurate calculations
  • Monitoring regulatory requirements and overseeing/validating all changes to PRT valuation
  • Oversee SPIA valuation
  • Re-designing reporting to explain earnings and drive senior management decision making
  • Maintaining and enhancing a strong control framework
  • Collaborating with other actuarial teams on complex initiatives, including
  • Projections on a STAT and GAAP basis
  • Reinsurance solutions
  • Peer review
  • Assumption setting
  • Managing and leading a team of actuaries to include providing guidance and direction, driving strong performance, and developing the talent on the team


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10 to 12 years of experience.
  • Five to 10 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • FSA
    • Demonstrated experience in PRT valuation
    • Ability to present and explain results to senior management
    • Experience leading a team and collaborating with others
    • Proven insurance business knowledge
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels
    • Ability to lead and develop an engaged, high performing team of actuaries
