Closer to a modeling specialist than a reserving-cycle analyst because AXIS model stewardship and structural changes, rather than routine reporting alone, define the role.
Associate Life actuarial role in MassMutual’s Life Valuation Modeling team, based in New York, Springfield, or Boston. You’ll use AXIS to support statutory, GAAP/LDTI, and tax valuation for individual life products, including cash flow testing, model updates, and financial reporting. The role requires an ASA and at least four years of actuarial experience, with a stated salary range of $144,800-$190,000.
Requirements
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, data science, CS, engineering, or related field
- ASA designation
- 4+ years actuarial experience in insurance, financial services, or related quantitative field
- 1+ years of experience with Axis
Strongly preferred
- FSA designation
- 4+ years of Axis experience, including model leadership or stewardship roles
- Proficiency with Axis DataLink, investment cells, scenario files, and embedded block processing
- Understanding of modeling infrastructure such as ELink, GridLink, and output databases
- Experience identifying multiple solutions and developing collaborative solutions to software limitations
- Ability to estimate resource requirements and set expectations with stakeholders for visible projects
- Experience with Principle-Based Reserves and valuation regulations
- Experience with product design, modeling assumptions, and inforce policy data
- Proficient with MS Excel and SQL
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated accountability and ownership of long-term independent projects
