Structured actuarial internship

Closer to a student development programme than a modelling-heavy role—the internship offers broad functional exposure rather than depth in one model or specialty.

Insurance actuarial internship in Lansing, Michigan, offering hands-on exposure across pricing, reserving, product development, capital modeling, reinsurance, and related financial analysis. The summer, office-based role is designed to prepare students for a potential full-time actuarial opportunity.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

  • Status as a sophomore, junior, senior, or grad student; OR a rising freshman at least 18 in a vocational insurance program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Ability to work full-time during normal business hours for the summer
  • Available to begin employment between mid-May and mid-June
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program aligning with our businesses
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of computers and standard software
  • Ability to proofread for spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to perform necessary mathematical computations
  • Ability to comprehend consequences and escalate for decision making
  • Ability to exchange information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines under stress
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
