Role Summary

Role type

Actuarial function builder

Closer to a transformation build than a modelling-heavy IC role—the hire is creating the life and health actuarial function and infrastructure rather than joining an established process.

Senior life and health actuarial role in Chicago, owning rate and form filings from pricing through Department of Insurance approval and implementation. You will be Corgi’s first life and health actuary, setting standards, building rating infrastructure with engineers, and certifying filings under your own name. Compensation is listed at $150,000-$350,000 plus equity.

Requirements

Must have

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and member of the American Academy of Actuaries
  • Qualified under US Qualification Standards to issue statements of actuarial opinion
  • At least three years of actuarial work experience in life, health, or both

Nice to have

  • Filed through SERFF under own name
  • Experience with ACA-compliant individual/small group rate filings and federal rate review, or with long-term care and disability rate increase filings
  • Experience with principle-based reserving under VM-20, or product development through pricing, filing, and launch
  • Time spent inside a state insurance department or on the reviewer side of health rate review
  • Comfortable with growing regulatory scrutiny of predictive models, external data, and algorithmic underwriting in life and health
  • Learn quickly, take ownership from start to finish, happy wearing multiple hats in a building actuarial department
