Role Summary

Role type

Regulatory filing and model-validation specialist

Closer to regulatory compliance than a pricing-underwriting partner: the defining work is defending model evidence in filings, not setting live carrier prices.

Senior P&C actuarial role in Nearmap’s Insurance Product team, fully remote across the continental United States. You’ll prepare and defend rate-filing evidence for AI- and imagery-derived insurance attributes, combining predictive-model validation, regulatory analysis, and customer-facing actuarial communication.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

  • 5+ years of property and casualty actuarial experience with real exposure to pricing, ratemaking, or rate filings
  • ACAS or FCAS credentialing
  • Experience preparing actuarial exhibits for rate filings and responding to regulator objections
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field
  • Ability to explain carrier-led rate filing processes to non-actuaries
  • Comfortable with predictive model output including GLMs, gradient boosting, and validation statistics
  • Worked with large claims and exposure data using SQL, R, or Python
  • Write technical documentation a regulator will accept that minimizes rounds of objections
  • Client-facing and steady on a call with carrier actuarial leadership

Nice to have

  • Experience at an actuarial consultancy or directly at a carrier supporting rate filings across multiple states and carriers
  • Experience with catastrophe or property peril models, or with imagery-derived and AI-derived rating variables
  • Prior regulator-side ratemaking review experience
  • Familiarity with SERFF and the practical mechanics of how filings move
