Job Title: Sr. Actuary Advisor

Location: San Antonio, Texas on-site

Job Type: Contract 12 months

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Actuarial Analyst to lead and support personal lines rate filings, specifically Auto and Umbrella products. This role involves direct engagement with state Departments of Insurance (DOIs), strategic review of filings, and collaboration across internal teams to ensure filings are actuarially sound and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support personal lines rate filings (Auto and Umbrella), including direct engagement with state DOIs.
  • Independently review and provide feedback on rate filings prepared by junior analysts.
  • Anticipate and address DOI objections with thoughtful, data-driven responses.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure filings reflect current trends, regulatory expectations, and competitive positioning.
  • Communicate technical concepts and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
Daily Duties Using Technology Tools:
  • Use Excel for data analysis and modeling to support rate filings.
  • Prepare and format documentation and correspondence in Word for DOI submissions and internal communications.
  • Develop and present findings and recommendations using PowerPoint for leadership and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative field.
  • 4+ years of actuarial or analytical experience, with at least 2 years focused on personal lines rate filings in the U.S.
  • ACAS or FCAS designation required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Visual Basic.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
