Role Summary

Role type

Hands-on property modelling specialist

Closer to a modelling-heavy individual contributor than a pure pricing partner, because hands-on model and data ownership outweighs the client-facing work.

Associate-level P&C actuarial role in EPIC’s Property Analytics team, based in New York City with a hybrid schedule. You’ll build commercial property pricing and CAT models, analyze complex programs, and turn results into broker- and client-ready recommendations for renewals and placements.

Requirements

Must have

  • At least 2 years of commercial insurance pricing or modeling work (if not ACAS)

Strongly preferred

  • ACAS designation
  • Real property modeling experience (loss development, CAT, layer pricing)
  • Strong Excel and at least one of Python, R, or SQL
  • Use AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) in daily work
  • Ability to explain technical concepts without jargon
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, stats, or related quantitative field
  • Self-starter mindset
  • Understanding of commercial property program structure and actuarial logic
  • Experience with benchmarking, limit adequacy, and TCOR modeling
  • Comfort with complex insurance programs (layers, quota shares, SIRs, captives)
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders (brokers, leaders, clients, technical team)
  • 2+ years of actuarial work with property pricing focus

Nice to have

  • Brokerage, reinsurance, or carrier-side property pricing experience
  • Knowledge of major CAT models (AIR, RMS) and their integration into pricing
