Role Summary

Role type

Pricing partner to brokers and clients

Closer to a live-business pricing partner than a pure modelling-heavy IC because the models directly shape renewals, placements, and client recommendations.

Associate P&C actuarial role in EPIC’s Property Analytics practice, based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule of 3–5 office days weekly. You’ll build commercial property pricing and CAT models, work with messy exposure and loss data, and turn results into broker and client recommendations for renewals and placements.

Requirements

Must have

  • Real property modeling experience (loss development, trend, frequency/severity, CAT load, layer pricing)
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in at least one of Python, R, or SQL

Strongly preferred

  • 2+ years of actuarial work with meaningful time spent on property pricing or modeling
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, stats, or other quantitative field
  • At least 2 years of dedicated commercial insurance pricing or modeling work (if not credentialed)
  • Ability to explain actuarial work without jargon
  • Understanding of commercial property insurance structures (towers, TIV, program structure)
  • Experience with benchmarking, limit adequacy work, and TCOR modeling
  • Comfortable with complex programs (layered placements, quota shares, deductibles, SIRs, captives)
  • Use AI tools in daily work (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
  • Ability to work across multiple stakeholders (brokers, practice leaders, clients, technical team)

Nice to have

  • ACAS designation
  • Brokerage, reinsurance, or carrier-side property pricing experience
  • Knowledge of major CAT models (AIR, RMS) and how vendor output is used in pricing
  • Self-starter mindset
