Role Summary

Role type

Pricing partner to brokers and clients

Closer to a live-business pricing partner than a pure modelling IC because model output is used in placements, renewals, RFPs, and client discussions.

Associate P&C actuarial role in Seattle, focused on commercial property pricing, CAT modelling, and casualty work. You’ll build and maintain pricing models, work with messy exposure and loss data, and turn results into broker and client recommendations for renewals and new business. The role is hybrid, with 3–5 office days per week, and offers a $150,000–$200,000+ base salary.

Requirements

Must have

  • 2+ years of actuarial work with property pricing and modeling experience
  • Strong Excel skills (table stakes)
  • Proficiency in at least one of Python, R, or SQL

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, stats, or quantitative field
  • ACAS designation
  • Real property modeling experience (loss development, trend, frequency/severity, CAT load integration, layer pricing)
  • Experience using AI tools in daily work (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude)
  • Ability to explain actuarial work without jargon
  • Understanding of commercial property structures (towers, TIV, program structure)
  • Knowledge of major CAT models (AIR, RMS)
  • Experience with benchmarking, limit adequacy, and TCOR modeling
  • Comfort with complex programs (layered placements, quota shares, deductibles, SIRs, captives)
  • Stakeholder management skills across brokers, practice leaders, clients

Nice to have

  • Brokerage, reinsurance, or carrier-side property pricing experience
