Role type

Specialist in a large-carrier setting

Closer to a carrier pricing specialist than a live underwriting partner because state filings and recurring rate execution drive the work.

Associate P&C actuarial pricing role in The Hartford’s Workers Compensation Actuarial team in Hartford, CT. You’ll support state rate filings, develop rate change recommendations, update indication assumptions, and partner with Product and other actuarial teams. The role is hybrid, with three office days weekly, and requires at least one passed actuarial exam.

Requirements

Must have

  • Pursuing actuarial exams with 1+ exams passed
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Work in Hartford, CT office 3 days per week (Tuesday-Thursday)

Strongly preferred

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Previous Property and Casualty Insurance Actuarial experience
  • Strong technical/analytical skills
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • Independently motivated, looks for areas to add value
  • Teamwork skills, ability to collaborate across teams

Nice to have

  • Experience with R or Python
