Role Summary

Role type

Actuarial data and analytics crossover

Closer to a data-science crossover than a modelling-heavy IC role because data intake, management, and client analytics are as important as actuarial pricing depth.

P&C actuarial associate role in Verisk’s Excess and Surplus Lines unit, focused on E&S casualty pricing and product development. You’ll work with complex insurance data, build analytical solutions, and solve technical problems for clients. The role is hybrid in Jersey City, NJ, or remote within approved Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zones.

Requirements

Must have

  • 4-6 years of actuarial experience with focus on E&S casualty pricing
  • Exam 5 passed
  • SQL proficiency
  • Data management skills or knowledge of insurance data management

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related majors
  • ACAS designation
  • Proficiency in SAS, R, Python, or Excel
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects end-to-end
  • Ability to work under uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Experience with complex and diverse datasets
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to explain actuarial concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders
  • Comfort working with multiple client teams and internal stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Snowflake and DBT
  • Experience with generative AI tools in production
