A data-science crossover rather than a pure pricing partner role, because advanced ML, software design, and broader decision science are explicit parts of the remit.

Senior P&C actuarial data science role with American Modern’s Predictive Analytics team in a hybrid US environment. As a Principal Data Scientist, you’ll lead personal lines pricing model strategy for residential property and recreational products, developing predictive models, supporting filings, and influencing business decisions.

Requirements

Must have

FCAS designation
No visa sponsorship will be provided

Strongly preferred

Experience in R and Python programming
Deep understanding of GLMs and GBMs
Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
Experience working in an agile team environment (Scrum or Kanban)
Strong commitment to testing, validation, and continuous improvement
Proven experience with project management and prioritization
Six+ years data science experience in insurance OR eight+ years in another industry
Master's degree in a quantitative field (Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.)

Nice to have

Experience with Databricks or similar big data platforms
