Closer to a reserving cycle role than a pricing-underwriting partner role—the core decisions concern reserve adequacy and claim development, not live deal pricing.

Associate-level P&C reserving role on The Hartford’s General Liability Reserving team in Hartford, CT, with hub options in Chicago, Charlotte, and Columbus. You’ll complete reserve studies for general liability and excess coverages, monitor portfolio performance, partner with Claims and Pricing, and improve reserving processes and tools. The role offers a hybrid schedule or remote consideration with occasional travel.

Requirements

Must have

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience
  • Strong Excel skills

Strongly preferred

  • Reserving experience
  • Near to recent FCAS/FSA designation
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Driven, intellectually curious, resourceful, and creative
  • Proactive individual who demonstrates ownership and partners effectively

Nice to have

  • Experience with R, Python, or SQL
